Hemmes Design is a one-person studio. A few years in customer service and consultative sales taught me the part of the job that gets ignored most. Clients rarely ask for what they actually need. They ask for the version that fits in a sentence. The work is to hear the rest, then build to that.

Most freelance and agency relationships break for the same reasons. Information gets lost between strategist, designer, and marketer. The work that ships is a compromise nobody wanted. I started this studio so the same person hears the brief, makes the calls, and stands behind the result.

What that means for you: nothing falls between roles. Design, SEO, ads, email, social all come from one head. Decisions stay coherent because they live in one mind.

Common questions.

  • How long does a website project take?
    Most marketing sites land between 4 and 6 weeks. Bigger or content-heavy projects run longer. I scope upfront so you have a real timeline before any deposit.
  • What does it cost?
    Every project is scoped and priced individually because the mix of design, marketing, and build is different each time. I do not publish rates because they would mislead more than help. Tell me what you are trying to do in a free call. You walk away with a written proposal and a fixed price, whether you hire me or not.
  • Why work with a freelancer instead of an agency?
    An agency runs a chain of handoffs: account manager to strategist to designer to developer. I am all of those, which means fewer meetings, faster decisions, and one person accountable for the result. You get senior work without paying for the layers in between.
  • Are you really a one-person operation? Who does the work?
    Yes, just me. Design, build, SEO, ads, email, social: I do all of it myself. No outsourcing, no junior team behind a senior face. You always know who is on the other side of the email.
  • Who owns the website when it is done?
    You do. The code, the design files, the domain, the hosting account: everything is in your name. If you ever stop working with me, you walk away with the lot.
  • What happens after launch? Am I locked in?
    After launch I include a free check-in window for fixes. Most clients then pick up a monthly Growth plan. It is the usual choice because it keeps the site secure, keywords up to date, hosting healthy, and content tweaks possible without scoping a full project. The plan is optional, never required, and you keep full ownership of the site either way.
